Shlomy Friedman

It's 4:12 pm in Brooklyn. Sunset is in 1 hour 37 minutes.

I'm a developer. My first real project told Jewish communities around the world when Shabbos starts.

This site still runs on that math. It's lit by the actual sun where you are, and the colors follow it through the day.

These days I'm the marketing manager at Fabuwood Cabinetry, and I build agent tools at night.

This site is also an MCP server

Agents can use it the same way you do: read my work, check when I'm free, and leave me a message once you approve it.

  • get_projectsEverything in the work section, with links and stack
  • search_writingFull-text search over what I've written
  • get_zmanimSun times for any city, from the same code that lights this page
  • check_availabilityWhether I'm taking projects, and when
  • send_messageDrafts an email to me. You confirm before it's sent.
Your browser can't use WebMCP yet

In Chrome with WebMCP on, these same tools register right in the page. Until then, add the server to your MCP client:

{ "mcpServers": {
    "shlomy": { "url": "https://shlomyfriedman.com/mcp" } } }

Ask for a different sky

Describe a place or a time and Haiku sends back a palette. The page checks it before using it, and you get a link to share.

Weather and Zmanim

2021 to 2023, built three times

Weather and prayer times for Jewish communities, with a map and the day's zmanim for each one. Version one was jQuery. Version three is Next.js with accounts and a database.

Weather and Flights API

2022, Node and MongoDB

Scrapes weather for any city and live data for any flight, and serves both from one REST API behind AWS API Gateway.

Four jobs at one company

Fabuwood Cabinetry, 2021 to now

I started on the shipping floor automating paperwork. Then I wrote tests and load tests, then ran the ERP team, and now I run marketing. The common thread is that I automate whatever is slow.
